‘Arts and cultural education’ began to be discussed as part of a public policy since 2004 when the Ministry of Culture and Tourism established the Arts & Culture Education Team. Of course, there were arts and culture education policies and support projects initiated at the central and regional government level even before 2004. It would be more reasonable to focus the discussion on how the term ‘arts and cultural education’ and its concept became widely used under a formalized framework, such as the establishment of the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service (February 2005) and the enactment of the Arts and Culture Education Support Act (December 2005). |
